New CAD Course - 290A
Next Generation Logic Synthesis Issues
Profs. Brayton and Newton
Wed. 1-3
Hogan Room

The class will focus on new techniques needed for synthesis of future systems due to shrinking feature sizes, increasing complexities and higher clock rates. It will be a 2 credit course with the final grade based solely on a project. In the class we will try to formulate a set of projects which can be research topics for the next generation systems. It is anticipated that the class may be attended by a number of visitors who will help in teaching and formulating the research projects. Prospective students should have taken 219b (aka 290ls logic synthesis) or equivalent.

The following is a tentative list of topics to be covered. We are also interested in techniques for enabling the synthesis of core based designs. Additionally, infrastructure and language issues may be pursued as well as use of hierarchy and multi-valued variables.
