Somayeh Sojoudi is an Associate Professor in the Departments of Electrical Engineering & Computer Sciences and Mechanical Engineering at UC Berkeley. She is an IEEE Fellow. Her research spans optimization, machine learning, and control theory, with applications to power systems and a focus on the robustness, safety, and reliability of AI systems.

She has received several awards and honors, including the NSF CAREER Award, the ONR Young Investigator Award, the INFORMS Optimization Society Prize for Young Researchers, the INFORMS Energy Best Publication Award, the INFORMS Data Mining Best Paper Award, and the Best-of-the-Best Conference Paper Award at the IEEE Power & Energy Society General Meeting.

She has served as Senior Associate Editor of IEEE Systems Journal and as Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid, Systems & Control Letters, IEEE Open Journal of Control Systems, and IEEE Access. She has also served on the Conference Editorial Board of the IEEE Control Systems Society and as Area Chair for NeurIPS, ICML, AAAI, and ICLR. She is currently Associate Editor for Book Reviews at IEEE Control Systems Magazine.
