I am an associate professor in the EECS Department at UC Berkeley. My research group builds computer systems that protect users’ privacy and security, often using new cryptographic ideas. For more details, see the pages on my group's research and impact.
Before moving back to Berkeley, where I grew up, I spent five excellent years at MIT. There, I was an associate professor in the EECS department, a principal investigator in CSAIL, a member of the PDOS research group, and an enthusiastic user of the Hobby Shop.
Here is a longer version of my bio and a list of awards.
In Spring 2026, I am co-organizing the Simons Workshop on Trust and Decentralized Systems.
From 2021-2025, I was a co-organizer of the Charles River Crypto Day.
From 2020-2025, I hosted the MIT Security Seminar series.
I completed my PhD in computer science at Stanford, advised by Dan Boneh. After that, I spent one year as a postdoc at EPFL, hosted by Bryan Ford.
I graduated from Yale University in 2010 with a B.S. in computer science. I grew up in Berkeley and was a student at Berkeley High School.
