City CarShare

City CarShare is a community shared car service that allows for hourly rentals of vehicles parked around town. You pay an hourly rate plus fees for mileage driven. City CarShare pays for gas and insurance so you don't have to! You can find more information about the service at the City CarShare website.

If you wish to become a member of City CarShare, the CSGSA can provide you a significant discount through their special CCS plan.

How much does it cost?

• $25 sign-up fee ($10 refundable if you cancel and return your keyfob)
• $10 annual membership
• Whatever you use, at the current rates, billed monthly

You will not be billed by City CarShare. All payments must be paid to the CSGSA's City CarShare account manager. You may pay by check, cash, or PayPal (Non-credit-card-only, paid to ccs at eecs. Contact ccs at eecs for special arrangements if you need to pay by credit card. PayPal's transaction fees will apply).

How does it work?

• Contact ccs at eecs to get the group number that is required for your application. You will need to pay $35 to cover the initial sign-up fees.

• Apply for a City CarShare membership using their Join your company's account option. Email ccs at eecs to get the group number. You must include the group number!

• After processing, your user id, password, and keyfob will arrive in the mail. You will use the keyfob to lock and unlock the vehicles.

• Make your reservations online using your user id and password. You may also use their automated phone reservation system (see their website for more details). You may make rentals at any time and as often as you like!

• Pick up and return your car per your reservation. You must follow the City CarShare rules regarding cleanliness and gas levels. Please be aware that you will be responsible for any late fees. Call City CarShare if you think you might be late and save yourself the fines!

• The CSGSA will bill you monthly. It is important that you pay promptly.

What about extended rentals?

This plan does not have Extended Freedom rentals. If you wish to rent a car for longer durations, please consider a daily rental through Enterprise (University & Oxford) or Avis (Kittridge & Milvia). If you use City CarShare to rent a car for 24 hours, you will pay for all 24 hours! Save yourself some money and check our nearby car rental companies. Daily rentals can be found for as low as $30 using discount codes. Try renting for a full weekend to take advantage of 50% off weekend rental offers -- you might be able to get a car for four days for only $75! You may also call City CarShare for discount codes that also cover the insurance for car rentals through Enterprise and City Rent-A-Car.
