Experiments

See http://www.interval.com/papers/1998-045/results/ for an example of rendering articulated arm images using our hybrid rigid and non-rigid system. Source images are displayed, together with annotations depicting the arm contour, kinematic chain, and segmentation into parts. (These were generated by hand using a semi-automated tracking system.) Dense correspondences were automatically generated based on the tracked contours, and each example image was aligned to a global frame for RBF training. Two example arm images were used, one upright and one outstreched. Movie files show the interpolated result generating images for intermediate arm locations. As can be seen in comparision to methods which use only rigid or only non-rigid interpolation, our method correctly captures the appearance of the articulated chain from just two annotated example images.
