Preparation:

Creating Generative Models from Range Images
Hierarchical Mesh Decomposition using Fuzzy Clustering and Cuts

Warm-up:

Suppose you had a procedural/generative program
to compose models of, say, book-shelves ?
What features would you like to see in such a program ?

Invent a new generic/parameterized model, not discussed in the 1st paper below.

Discuss these problems with your neighbors.

Paper Presentation  by Kerstin Keller

Creating Generative Models from Range Images by Ramamoorthi and Avro

Test-question:

What are the three parametrized models discussed in this paper ?

Paper Presentation  byArpad Kovacs

Hierarchical Mesh Decomposition using Fuzzy Clustering and Cuts by Katz and Tal

TALK MATERIALS

Test-question:

What are the three key computer algorithms used in this program ?

Reading Assignments:

Adaptively Sampled Distance Fields by Frisken et al.

Programming Assignment:

It is time to wrap up your genus-4 texture mapping assignment. Show me what you have been able to accomplish.
Here are some results I have received so far ...
If you can tell where the triangle boundaries are, then the real design objective has not been reached yet.

COURSE PROJECTS:

Acquire background information, plan your path of implementation, try to get some quick and dirty tests going ...
and always keep the overall schedule in mind!

REMINDER:  Send me a brief status report by Nov. 16, midnight.
