Introduction to Electric Power and Renewable Energy (GSI, Spring 2024, Spring 2025)
- EE 108: Introduction to Electric Power and Renewable Energy
- This is the first EECS course in the power and energy sequence at UC Berkeley. It was first offered in Spring 2024, and I had the honor of being head GSI both semesters under Professor Pilawa-Podgurski. This course is designed to introduce students to modeling loads as complex impedances, developing fluency in analyzing how our homes interact with distribution grids, and understanding the role that power conversion plays in enabling the renewable energy transition.
Additionally, we use weekly live lecture demonstrations to make key concepts tangible. Every semester, these elicit tons of insightful questions, and really bring big ideas home for students.
As a GSI, I am most proud that many students in the course begin without prior circuit theory exposure, and by the end of the course are able to confidently analyze the operation of AC-DC/DC-AC power converters.

Certificate Program for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education
This optional certificate program is one that I have undertaken to better prepare myself to develop and teach undergraduate courses. Beyond additional training, I have had the opportunity to work on course design and hone my pedagogical philosophies. I expect to complete my portfolio in Fall 2025.
