Setting Up and Running SLIDE

Following the appropriate directions for your own computing needs:

Class accounts on instructional machines at UC Berkeley

If you are using a class account (like cs184-?? or cs284-??) on an instructional Windows machines at UC Berkeley in Soda Hall, then simply login and run slide.exe, and it should be found in your path.

Your own machine or named account on the EECS domain at UC Berkeley

If you are using your own machine or your own named account on the EECS domain at UC Berkeley, then you will need to set up your registry of environment variables once on each machine you try to run on. Go to the using SLIDE at Berkeley and click on the install script and answer YES to everything. This will map a shared drive to S: and create a few necessary environment variables. To make these changes effective you must either bring up the enviroment variables interface and say OK, or log out and log back in again. Now just run slide.exe, and it should be found in your path.

Down loading and running on your own machine

If you would like to download SLIDE and run it on your own machine anywhere, then go to the SLIDE distribution page and down load the appropriate precompiled executable. Follow the installation instructions. Then just run slide.exe, and it should be found in your path.
