SLIDE Source Installation

NOTE: To participate, you must be a member of the Unix unigrafi group and be working with Professor Carlo Séquin.

Installation Instructions

• Setting up your Environment

  • Get added to the unigrafi group
  • Change your shell to tcsh
  • Add the following lines to your .cshrc file

• CVS

  • mkdir ~/projects
  • cd ~/projects -- This is where the sif source tree will be located
  • mkdir slide
  • chgrp unigrafi slide
  • chmod 755 slide
  • chmod g+s slide
  • Run cvs checkout slide/viewer. This will fill the slide directory you created with all the assorted source tree and code below it.



• Using CVS

  • A general note is that all of these commands must be run in the directory where the file in question exists
  • cvs update (file) will update a file with the newer version from the repository
  • cvs update -d will update pwd and all of its subtree
  • cvs update -d (dir) will update dir and all of its subtree



• Compiling and Running

  • cd ~/projects/slide/viewer
  • gmake depend -- remember to do this after any cvs updates
  • gmake
  • slide
