Blum Center (old Naval Architecture Building) Construction Site -- Pictorial Record

The Naval Architecture Building Restoration project will renovate, expand, and seismically upgrade the Naval Architecture Building, a simple wood-shingled building listed on the National Register of Historic Places that was built in 1914 and designed by John Galen Howard. A new wing will be constructed on the west side of the original structure. A second-level bridge, first-level terrace, and ground floor connector under the terrace will link the historic building to its new wing. A plaza area will connect the entire project to nearby engineering buildings. The project will create a new home for the Richard C. Blum Center for Developing Economies as well as teaching and student space for the College of Engineering. Construction has begun in Spring 2009 and is scheduled to be completed in Fall 2010.
