At 8 AM another half dozen Pattersons hit the 55 degree water of
Santa Cruz in wet suits for more surfing. Alissa,
Brian,
John,
and Paul were joined by Laura
and Melissa. The four pros were
getting casual about surfing, even doing
tricks. Everyone caught waves, did very well at surfing, and even pose
well. Here is a photo album
for surfing Wednesday. The Greenlunds made wonderful Sweedish pancakes
for breakfast, which tied us back to our Ekstrom roots.
The Sea Stag III picked us up at the wharf at 4 PM for a 2-hour tour of the coast from Seal Rock to the Cement Boat. It was chilly at times, but we saw sea lions, otters, and dolphins, plus the view of the beautiful Santa Cruz beaches from the ocean. Here is our boat photo album.
As was the case most afternoons, many of the boys played a card game called Magic, which is derived from the Dungeons and Dragons role playing games. It was more popular this time than the Boardwalk.
At 6:15 we went to the Ideal for our annual lobster feed. Don and Dave ordered Lava Flows again, even though we weren't going fishing the next day. (Last year we claimed they were good for seasickness, as we didn't get seasick and they tasted better than Dramamine .)
Amazingly, we are able finish dinner and get all of us to the 7:30 screening of "The Hulk." This movie tried to explore the relationship between parents and children, but this movie only spoke to people whose parents were scientists who experimented on themselves.
That evening we danced DDR and played Murder--a card game, not anything
more sinister.
