Subject: December visit to Santa Cruz
Date: 11/20/00 7:12 AM
Starting to get ready for the visit, and I wanted to check some
ideas out:
* We'd like to try doing meals vacation style, with groups signing
up for meals, as 21 people would swamp many restaurants. When you have a meal,
you would purchase the food , cook the meal, and clean up. We'll supply paper plates
and disposable cups. Number of meals
would be a function of how long you are there: short stay means fewer
meals, longer means more meals.
Does this sound OK? If so,
I'll send requests and try to coordinate the allocations, trying to rotate
meals on different days and different times of day. You might think about your
favorite meals for 20 people.
* Deitary preferences for your families would be great to send to
me to coordinate
* Is it OK for all the cousins 20 and under to sleep in the same
room on mattresses and
couches? That should be 7; in order of arrival: John, Alissa, Paul,
Melissa, Brian, Laura, Lyle. (Heather did this in her grandmothers place, and
thought it was fun)
* The plan for the people over 20 is to try to put people them
into rooms, with the following groups (which are mostly obvious):
NorCals (Mike, Heather, Andrew, Grace)
Idahoans (Don, Pat)
SoCals (Linda, Lloyd)
Greats + Sue (Greats = David, Lucie)
Grands + David3 (Grands = David, Linda; David3 = David Adam
Patterson)
Room assignments would be based on number of people and length of
visit, but the rooms available are 3 bedrooms, office (with a bed), and living
room (with a fireplace).
* Those coming by car are a bit flexible, but I'd like to know the
flight times for the Texans and Idahoans. My understanding is:
Idahoans: arrive Wednesday afternoon, departing Tuesday morning
Texans: arrive Tuesday evening, departing Saturday morning
SoCals: arrive Wednesday evening (or Tuesday evening?), departing
Saturday morning?
David3: arrive Friday night, leave Saturday or Sunday?
NorCals: arrive Wednesday morning (or Tuesday night), leave
Saturday or Sunday?
Greats: arrive Tuesday evening, departing Tuesday morning?
Grands: arrive Tuesday, depart Monday or Tuesday
More accurate information is appreciated when available. I'll set up a web page with
the information when it looks stable, probably password protected
