Patterson Reunion July 20-27, 2002

The First Day: Saturday July 20

This is the day everyone arrived except the SoCals. The most amazing comute was the Idahodians, who left Princeton at 4:30 PM and arrived in Santa Cruz at 12:30 PM, or 20 hours of non-stop driving. Melissa volunteered to bring her boyfriend Ryan to help with the driving, and perhaps for other reasons. Greatgrandpa Patterson showed us his new car, a Chrsyler Concorde.  He paid jut $2900 for 1993 this car, but it looked just 2 or 3 years old.

We spent the day getting caught up and entertaining the greatgrandchildren. That day we played by shooting foot rockets, going for one ride or another on our many vehicles,  or just getting dressed up.

The plans for the evening were hot dogs over a beach campfire, but the fog changed our plans to a backyard barbeque. We also celebrated Paul's 14th birthday with cake and song. He recieved a blue Santa Cruz Skateboards sweatshirt which he appeared to like, as you'll see him wearing it in every photo that he is not wet. The evening was spent at home talking, playing cards, or working on puzzles.
