Friendly Wood Duck in a city park

A notice on the East-Bay Birders (EBB) electronic mailing list reported a Wood Duck in the Montclair district of Oakland. What I found was a very tame bird. As soon as he saw me, from the other end of the pond, he began paddling over to greet me-- reminiscent of the mooching dock ducks in the marinas of the world. While the Trumpeter Swan is most graceful, drakes in nuptual plumage are most elegant.
