Waiting for ebb tide

Along the south edge of Arrowhead Marsh, a low pier extends about 100 feet out from the shoreline. During extreme high winter tides, Clappers, Virginias and Soras converge on the pier-- in spite of its being peopled with birders. Some rails hide beneath it, but most simply hunker down near it, as this bird has done.
