Dusky cone after the hunt

Having swallowed a fish, this animal was unable to withdraw into its shell. Ordinarily its next move would be to burrow into the sand or retreat into a small crevice, but it's difficult to do anything quickly when you're stuffed. Although the animal seems vulnerable here, there were no predators in the tank to harm it. In fact this cone and a mate were soon to fly to California, where they lived together for nine more years in a twenty-gallon tank of their own.
