Dickcissel

This bird was just across the narrow dirt road from the Orchard Oriole. Back on the main dirt road, and a little farther south (but still in our little piece of Nebraska), we found a mixed group of birds taking turns at what appeared to be a small spring in a deep hollow next to the road. It reminded me of the water feature at the South Padre Island Convention Center. Bird after bird flew in to join the group, while those who had had their turns at the spring would fly away. We spent an entire afternoon, in the cover of our car, watching the birds come and go.
