Curiosity or Challenge?

For our excursion into the Ngorongoro Crater, our driver/guide had enlisted a local guide, and the four of us spent the day exploring the roads through the crater's floor. Shortly after lunch, we spotted this Black Rhinoceros grazing together with a large Cape Buffalo. We parked in a small clearing about 100 m from the animals. The rhinoceros obviously noticed us and immediately began to wander in our direction. Finally, when it was within 15 or 20 feet of our Range Rover, and showing signs of agitation, the local guide told our driver to keep the car motionless, but gun the engine. As our Range Rover's engine growled, the rhinoceros backed away, giving us room to travel on-- which we did, presuming the animal would go back to grazing with its friend.
