CS252: Reading Assignment #6
Due Monday, February 13th


For Monday, read the following three papers:

  2. The YAGS branch prediction scheme, A. N. Eden and T. Mudge. Proceedings of International Symposium on Microarchitecture (MICRO-31), 1998 
  3. A Comparative Analysis of Schemes for Correlated Branch Prediction, Cliff Young, Nicolas Gloy, and Michael D. Smith. Proceedings of the International Symposium on Computer Architecture (ISCA), 1995.

You must also:

Write two paragraphs for Monday.  Write one paragraph discussing the pros and cons of various branch predictors given in papers #1 and #2. Write one other paragraph summarizing paper #3.
