CS252: Reading Assignment #1
Due Wednesday, September 8th
|
The reading assignment for Wednesday for CS 252
is to read the following papers that were handed out yesterday (also
available outside Professor Kubiatowicz's office, 673 Soda):
1) Patterson and Ditzel. "The Case for the Reduced Instruction
Set Computer."
2) Clark and Strecker. "Comments on `The Case for the Reduced
Instruction Set Computer'."
3) Diefendorff. "Transistor Budgets Go Ballistic."
4) Smith. "Implementation of Precise Interrupts in Pipelined
Processors."
You must also:
- Write a one-paragraph paper summary of paper #4 (Smith).
- Write one paragraph about the combination of papers 1, 2,
and 3. You should briefly summarize the arguments, then
describe your opinions on and reactions to the issues
introduced in the papers.
So, just to make sure that's absolutely clear, you are writing two
(2) paragraphs total.
