I am primarily interested in understanding and modeling human behavior. The ultimate goal of my research is to leverage behavior models in the design of modern tools. My research draws from (and will hopefully contribute to) many topics/fields: e.g. Machine Learning, psychological theories of human development, sociological theories surrounding the coordination of group [work] activities, applications of Machine Learning to language modeling and information retrieval, modern anthropological methods, and components of design theory applicable to modern tool development.
My thesis project is titled An Activity based approach to Context-Aware Computing. We have built an automatic task support system called CAAD, for Context-Aware Activity Display. A feasibility study demonstrated that users found CAAD both useful and easy to use. We are currently building a file recommendation system that uses the infrastructure of CAAD.
