The 3D Direct Interfaces (3DDI) project is the main participant in the Multidisciplinary Univeristy Research Initiative's 3D Visualization program. 3DDI involves researchers from the University of California at Berkeley, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and the University of California at San Francisco. The purpose of this project is a multi-disciplinary effort to develop the science base and a spectrum of tools for fast, realistic and direct interaction between humans and 3D content.
The Multidisciplinary Research Program of the University Research Initiative (MURI) is a multi-agency DoD program that supports research teams whose efforts intersect more than one traditional science and engineering discipline. Multidisciplinary team effort can accelerate research progress in areas particularly suited to this approach. Multidisciplinary research also can help to hasten the transition of research findings to practical application.
