Easy-CD 95 is the software application used for general purpose CD-ROM writing (or burning) to the HP SureStore 4020 CD-ROM writer.

general precautions while burning:

• Make sure that no other programs (other than the burning software) are running or open. (This includes Viruscan95) Net Watcher and/or Windows LPR Spooler should remain active and will be OK.

• The computers in 564 have a power-save feature which activates after a certain period of time. Right-click on the Desktop, select Properties..., Screen Saver and disable the power-save feature if active.

  RE-ENABLE the power-save feature after you are finished!

• Make sure that the computer is not touched or operated in any fashion while burning:
  • Don't move the mouse or the graphics tablet.
  • Don't check your e-mail.
  • Don't start Netscape.
  • Don't open up a notepad window to put a message saying "Please don't touch the computer".

Writing a UNIX Filesystem to a CDROM

basic writing instructions (EasyCD 95):

1. Place a recordable CD in the CD-Writer slot, which is the bottom one labeled HP 4020i.

2. Start Easy-CD 95. (From the Start Menu, select Programs, HP SureStore CD Writer, EasyCD 95).

3. In Easy-CD 95, from the Edit Menu, select Start Explorer to browse the entire filesystem.

4. From within Explorer, choose the files and directories you want to write, and drag them over to the Easy-CD 95 window. If it's another CD you want to copy, drag the entire CD to the Easy-CD window.

5. The default writing properties for standard writing should be OK. If you want to change them, select the CD-R Menu, select Properties, and choose your writing options.

6. Click the red circle button to start recording. The CD-writer requires a very steady stream of data to write without dropouts. So it's best to leave the PC writing. Interruptions during writing will destroy the entire write, and usually will render the disk unusable.
