Graduate Student Lounge

The graduate student lounge is located in 347 Soda Hall. The lounge hosts many fine amenities including:

Buyer's Club
Update (Dec 10, 2007):The Buyer's Club is now in 508 Soda Hall

Birkball Table
This link to the official Birkball web site includes playing instructions and a video of the game in action. If you squint, the player in the lower left of the video looks kind of like Jim Gray.

Graduate Student Reading Room

The graduate student reading room is located in 508 Soda Hall. It houses a collection of donated computer science textbooks and journals. If you have any journals, conference proceedings, or textbooks you would like to contribute, contact the reading room librarian to see if we can accommodate them.

Social Events

The members of the Social Committee organize many activities throughout the semester that provide an opportunity to meet and catch up with other students in the department. Watch for activity announcements in email and on the Events page.

Exam Preparation

The members of the Exams Committee organize volunteers to offer practice preliminary exam sessions in different areas. Watch for practice exam information in email at the beginning of the semester.
