Paper Assignments and Presentation Dates

General Comments:

• EVERYBODY reads the papers:
  -- Spend 30 to 60 minutes on it; distill out the important concept and some salient features; bring some relevant questions to the discussion.
• Presenters (and anybody else interested in that topic) read the paper in much more detail and possibly follow up on other pointers on the homepage of the authors.
• Presenters will prepare a presentation with good visual aids (possibly lifted from presentations given by the authors -- with proper credit given!).
  
• Prepared presentations should last about 20-25 minutes (assuming little interruptions), but will hopefully last about 40 minutes because of good discussions.
• The class should be prepared to help the presenters with constructive and insightful questions and comments.
• The presenters should be prepared to answer such questions.
• The presentations will be judged for:
• Organization of the material
• Clarity of explanations
• Quality of visual materials
• Forcefulness and enthusiasm of oral presentation
• I reserve the right to start a class with a short 10 minute pop quiz about the paper(s) for that day.
