Wenting Zheng


I am currently a postdoc in the UC Berkeley RISE Lab, working with Raluca Ada Popa. I will join CMU's Computer Science Department as an assistant professor in Fall 2021.

I am broadly interested in system security and applied cryptography. My recent research interests are in building practical systems for enabling secure collaborative computation.

Previously, I was a Ph.D. student in the RISE Lab as well, where I was co-advised by Ion Stoica and Raluca Ada Popa. I received my bachelor and M.Eng. degrees at MIT. I have been very fortunate to work with a number of wonderful people. During my M.Eng., I was advised by Barbara Liskov and worked with Eddie Kohler and Sam Madden. I have also done undergraduate research under Anant Agarwal and Anantha Chandrakasan.

I am also a co-founder and an organizer for DARE, a diversity-focused program for matching undergraduates to research opportunities.

I was supported by a Berkeley Fellowship (2014-2016), and an IBM Ph.D. Fellowship (2017-2018).
