  • The reading assignment for Wednesday for CS 258 is to read the following two papers:
    1. Design choices in the SHRIMP system: an empirical study.   Matthias A. Blumrich, Richard D. Alpert, Yuqun Chen, Douglas W. Clark, Stefanos N. Damianakis, Cezary Dubnicki, Edward W. Felten, Liviu Iftode, Kai Li, Margaret Martonosi, Robert A. Shillner.  In Proceedings of the 25th Annual International Symposium on Computer Architecture (ISCA) 1998.
    2. Evaluation of release consistent software distributed shared memory on emerging network technology.     Sandhya Dwarkadas, Peter Keleher, Alan L. Cox, Willy Zwaenepoel. In Proceedings of the 20th Annual International Symposium on Computer Architecture (ISCA) 1993.
    Write one paragraph about each of these papers. You should briefly summarize the arguments, then  describe your opinions on and reactions to the issues introduced in the papers.
