We have described a methodology for removing lighting artifacts from a photographic image, given knowledge of the geometry of objects in the photograph and a set of assumptions. Our method is most applicable in architectural scenes where there are large, flat faces. The effectiveness of the algorithm has been demonstrated on two such scenes.
